Science Diplomacy Seminar: Research Collaborations between the National Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Alliance of 4 Universities
On the 18th of December 2023, the A-4U organized a Science Diplomacy event to promote collaboration initiatives between the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and the A-4U universities, as well as to present the A-4U to researchers and students from all Greek universities. The event had the support of the Spanish Embassy in Greece and the Instituto Cervantes in Greece.
Four researchers, one from each of the A-4U universities, took part in the seminar: Magda Fytili, Beatriu de Pinós researcher from the Department of Contemporary History at the UAB; Konstantinos Stamatakis, from the Department of Molecular, Biology at the UAM and researcher at the CSIC Centre of Molecular Biology Severo Ochoa; Sofia Tsipas, from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the UC3M; and Christos Zografos, from the Department of Political and Social Sciences, Johns Hopkins University – Universitat Pompeu Fabra (JHU-UPF) Public Policy Center, and Vice-Director of GREDS (Research Group on Health Inequalities, Environment, Employment Conditions Network) at the UPF.
During the morning session, experts on climate change from different disciplines at the NKUA and the A-4U universities presented their research lines and possible collaborations in the field. In the afternoon session, addressed to MA students, PhD students, postdocs, and researchers in general, the A-4U representatives informed about current research collaborations amongst the 4 universities of the Alliance and the NKU and other Greek institutions.
The event, which was honoured with the presence of the Spanish Ambassador in Greece, the Head of Studies of the Instituto Cervantes in Greece and several Vice-Rectors for Internationalization and Science Policy of the 4 universities of the Alliance, amongst others, was highly celebrated by the audience.
