The Alliance of 4 Universities (A-4U) and the Cervantes Institute organize a seminar of Spanish Language and Culture in Kenya
Within its strategic framework for internationalization, the Alliance of 4 Universities has organized from the 23 to the 25 of October 2023 a seminar about Spanish language and culture in Kenia together with the Cervantes Institute, the Spanish Embassy in Kenya and the United States International University-Africa.
Four A-4U professors, Alicia Fernández (UAB), Ana Pellicer (UC3M), Encarna Atienza (UPF) and Rosa Navarro (UAM), were in charge of giving this seminar addressed to students and teachers of Spanish, and open to the general public. The seminar, which was very celebrated by the attendees, included creative writing, microtheater and oral expression worshops, as well as an approach to culture.
At the end of the opening session, which was honoured with the presence of the Spanish Ambassador in Kenya, the Chilean Ambassador in Kenya, the Academic Director of the Cervantes Institute and the four Vice-Rectors of Internationalization of the four universities that conform the Alliance, there was a round table on new technologies and the teaching of Spanish.
According to Cervantes Institute data, in Africa there are 23 million students of Spanish as a foreign language, of which approximately 3000 are in Kenya. This initiative seeks, amongst other goals, to give visibility to the four A-4U universities as a destination for students of Spanish of all disciplines.
