The 4 Universities Alliance (A-4U) has carried out an institutional mission to Senegal and Gambia from the 13th to the 23rd of November.
Within the strategic framework for internationalization of the 4 universities which constitute the consortium, the A-4U has developed the institutional mission to Senegal and Gambia in order to promote bilateral collaboration agreements between Senegalese or Gambian universities and each of the A-4U universities in the areas of research, teaching and technology transfer. The A-4U delegation was made up of the Vice-rectors of International Relations of each of the 4 universities and the International Relations Coordinator of the 4-AU.
During the 8 days of the mission, which was carried out in the cities of Dakar, Thiès, Bambey, Saint-Louis and Banjul, the delegates held several meetings in the main Senegalese and Gambian universities to get to know and strengthen the relationship with the main High Education agents in both countries. The visited universities are: Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD), École Supérieure de Commerce de Dakar (SUPdeCO), Université Iba Der Thiam de Thiès (UT), Université Alioune Diop de Bambey (UADB) and Université Gaston Berger (UGB) in Senegal, and American International University of West Africa (AUIWA) and University of The Gambia (UdG) in Gambia. Due to unforseen circumstances, the scheduled visit to Université Assane Seck de Ziguinchor (UASZ) had to be replaced by an online meeting.
The visited research centers are: Institut Pasteur de Dakar in Senegal, and The Medical Research Council Unit and The Center for Research and Policy Development in Gambia.
The A-4U delegation also took the opportunity to hold a meeting with the Spanish Embassy in Senegal and Gambia, as well as with the Spanish Economic and Business Bureau in Senegal, the Director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Senegal and the representatives of the recently opened Cervantes Institute in Dakar.
